Wow. This was one of the best shows I've seen. Georgia, James and Ira play some amazing music. For starters, their stage setup is interesting enough in itself. Four keyboards, all attached to various pedals and other effects, not to mention Ira's guitar setup, which included about 5 different guitars (all of which he actually used), a million different pedals, and two sweet vintage Fender amps. So I mean, I was impressed before they started playing. And then they started playing, holy cow. They sound even better than on disc, and I think the disk sounds pretty damn good. Between the switching of the instruments, the FREAKING OUT on the guitar, Georgia's sweet, sweet vocals, and James playing the most amazing bass lines, there wasn't much room for boredom. And the crowd agreed with me. The band left the stage after two encores, each consisting of two or more songs. I had the biggest smile on my face, and in my heart.
If you're not a Yo la Tengo fan, you should be. Go pick up, "And then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out", my personal favorite album of theirs. Oh ya and The Gay opened for them. They were alright.
